Chicago’s O’Hare Airport

The O’Hare airport is located due northwest of downtown Chicago and is one of the top choices for world travelers – proven by its 12th consecutive year of receiving the Global Traveler Award for the “Best Airport in North America.” What started as just a small four-runway airport in 1945 has since grown into an airport with eight runways that services nine of the largest airlines in the country.

People who need to get to O’Hare can take public transportation, but if you’d like more control of your travels, drive your car on the Kennedy Expressway and park at an airport lot. Before you leave the area, though, be sure to check and see if there are any last-minute events you might want to enjoy. The airport is near The Rosemont Theatre and Allstate Arena, which is home to the WNBA’s Chicago Sky and hosts many other popular acts. You can also get out pent up energy at the nearby Brunswick Zone arcade, or take a stroll through Schiller Woods, a preserve with 8,000 acres of land.

Once you’re at the airport, you’ll also enjoy the Airport Public Art Program, which offers special exhibits and events throughout the year. Past attractions have included Chicagoween, holiday season at the airport and the year-round “Music in the Air” program, during which top local musicians entertain weary travelers.
