Southwest adds flights to 9 cities out of Dallas Love Field

According to the Dallas Morning News, Southwest Airlines begins non-stop service to eight new cities from Dallas Love Field starting Wed. April 7.

The destinations receiving the flights include: Columbus, Ohio; Charleston, South Carolina; Portland, Oregon; San Jose and Sacramento, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Indianapolis, Indiana; Seattle/Tacoma, Washington and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

All of these routes, except for Charleston, will have daily flights, with the Dallas-Charleston route providing flights on Saturdays only. This is set to change in August when the route receives daily flights.

This expansion of services is a part of the Dallas Love expansion version 3.0. In August, Dallas-based Southwest is set to add another eight departures, totaling up to 180 daily flights from Love Field.

These additional flights come after the expiration of the Wright Amendment, which previously impeded the amount of flights to and from Dallas Love Field. Since then, Southwest has leased two gates from United in order to accommodate the new routes.

Travelers heading through Dallas Love airport parking may want to give themselves extra time when going through security to be sure they make it to their gate in time. There will be increased traffic in the next several months and it's better to be prepared than stressed out and in a hurry.
