Southwest Airlines announced on Feb. 19 that it will be offering nonstop flights from Columbus, Ohio, to Oakland, California, and Boston Logan starting Aug. 9, 2015.
The flights are in addition to other nonstop options to Dallas Love Field and Reagan National, which are scheduled to start in early April 2015.
Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman stated in a press release that he is proud the city has grown economically and requires these added options to encourage leisure and business travel to and from the city. He considers the move a step forward towards connecting the city with other strategic locations that will grow the economy of central Ohio and add more opportunities for all individuals.
The new flights to Oakland and Boston Logan will be offered Monday through Thursday, and one-way Wanna Get Away® fares will be available as well as the regular price options. Individuals looking to take advantage of the new nonstop flights will be able to check their first and second bags for free as with other Southwest Airlines Flights.
Car rentals are available from Port Columbus International Airport for easy travel to nearby cities; Cincinnati, Ohio Louisville, Kentucky, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and Cleveland, Ohio.
